This exhibit uses a computer program to simulate piloting an Airbus 380 landing at Heathrow.
Activity.... Do – Think - Learn
A simulator uses computers to help us experience what it would be like to fly a real aeroplane.
Can you land the plane safely at the airport?
Was it easy to fly the plane and look at all the dials in front of you at the same time?
The Science Bit
There are different types of flight simulators. Some are used at home for fun and others are built to the actual size of a real aeroplane cockpit. Pilots can be trained in these simulators and help them to learn how to handle the plane in different conditions.
