Reactable

Reactable is a fun, interactive musical instrument. It uses a tangible interface, where you control the system by placing tangible objects on the surface of the table.

There are more than 40 different objects which can be used on the Reactable, sound generators, filters, controllers and audio mixers. All these objects have different functions
and behaviours and can all be combined with each other, endlessly.

By rotating a generator you can change the frequency, and by dragging your finger around an animated circle can increase or decrease its amplitude (how loud or soft the sound is), much like controlling the volume on an old television set.

Square objects are sound generators.
These Produce a bass sound which can be distorted byadding more objects to the table
Squares with rounded edges are sound filters.
They process sounds by adding different effects. If you had a sound generator giving off a steady, even tone, adding a sound filter next to it would distort the sound to make it more interesting.
Circular objects are controllers.
These work by sending control data to the objects closest to it. This will change the frequency of the sound wave.
Octagonal, or eight-sided objects are Control filtersand pentagonal or five-sided objects are audio mixers, both have the same function.
They allow you to create melody loops and lines that harmonize and change shape and key.
